More Visitors at Windy Nook!

Over the last few weeks, Class 11 have had visitors from Heworth Grange and Thomas Hepburn schools - teachers and pupils who are keen to find out what goes on in primary school language lessons! We were delighted to be visited by some Year 11 pupils from Thomas Hepburn who were members of Class 11 at Windy Nook not so many years ago! We impressed the teachers (and pupils) with our knowledge of school subjects, and our ability to say which are our favourites. How many can you remember? Leave a comment!

Fab French Launch!

Written by Cameron and Dean

Friday 29th February 2008 saw the official launch of Fab French, a MFL web log, created by the Year 6 pupils at Windy Nook Primary School.
The idea came from Mrs E Marwood, a teacher at the school, who saw a French website done by a school in Scotland. The plan was then put into action. Peter Bolger and Trevor McDonald from Gateshead City Learning made he website for them. Peter said: “This is the best website I have seen all year. I am very proud of making this website, but the Year 6 children should be even prouder for making all the things to go on to it.”

What a fab day!

If you came along to our Fab French Launch and Internet Cafe then we don't need to tell you how much fun it was! But in case you didn't, then we should tell you that we had fab fun in the morning, showing the children in Key Stage One and Reception how to use the site, and teaching them a finger rhyme, and then we had even more fun in the afternoon enjoying delicious croissants and pain au chocolat at our cafe! Have a look in the gallery to see some of the photos. If you were there, why not tell us what you thought of it by adding a comment? We'd love to hear from you... A big well done to Class 11 for all your hard work - you did yourselves proud.

Fab French Launch!

On Friday 29th February we will be officially launching our French website! During the day, pupils across the school will have the opportunity to browse our site either in the ICT suite or at our Internet Cafe, and there will also be some French food for tasting!

We have invited a number of visitors to our launch day, including school governors, representatives from other local schools, and Peter and Trevor who have helped us put the website together.

After school, parents will also be able to come into school and browse the site.

We hope to see you there!

On Tuesday 5th February, Class 11 had a fab time at Gateshead CLC recording some podcasts and videos for this weblog! We were helped by Peter and Trevor, who demonstrated some new software called Audacity. We were also lucky enough to be able to use the web radio equipment to record some of our conversations, and the TV equipment to make our videos!

Have a look around the site to see some of our work!

Joyeux Noel!

Were you at the KS2 Christmas Carol Service? Did you hear our lovely French Christmas Carol? We sang 'Etoile de Noel' from the Jolie Ronde Christmas book, and it sounded lovely! Maybe next year we might manage even more of our Carol Service in French!
