Friday 29th February 2008 saw the official launch of Fab French, a MFL web log, created by the Year 6 pupils at Windy Nook Primary School.
The idea came from Mrs E Marwood, a teacher at the school, who saw a French website done by a school in Scotland. The plan was then put into action. Peter Bolger and Trevor McDonald from Gateshead City Learning made he website for them. Peter said: “This is the best website I have seen all year. I am very proud of making this website, but the Year 6 children should be even prouder for making all the things to go on to it.”
In the morning, pupils from KS1 came to the ICT suite to have a look at the website. Assisted by year 6 pupils, the classes had a fantastic time!
In the afternoon, we hosted a Fab French internet café, and invited many guests, such as parent governors including Councillor Jim Turnbull. He commented that it is important that other schools should try to copy what Windy Nook have achieved as it is a great learning tool. The café part involved some lovely croissants and pain au chocolat donated by the Hotel Campanile. There were also a number of waiters and waitresses, to serve the guests, welcome hosts, to give people a guided tour of the website, photographers, technicians, in case the laptops broke down, and reporters, who wrote this article!!!
Altogether, we had an absolutely fab day!!!!!!
